15 years after Microsoft released Skype, the tech giant is now adding a call recording feature to this communication software. The feature will be cloud-based, which means that users will be able to access their call recordings across various devices, including Mac, Windows, Android, iOS, and also Linux. Once you press the Record button, everyone joining the call will get a notification informing them that their conversation is being recorded. The videos and the shared screens from everyone in the call will be combined in the recording.

No Need for Third-Party Apps

In the past, Skype users relied on various third-party apps to record calls. One of the most popular programs for recording calls on Skype is Evaer. The new Content Creator mode lets vloggers, streamers, and podcasters easily integrate Wirecast, Xsplit, and Vmix into Skype.

Call recording is just one of the new features that Microsoft plans to release this summer. The tech giant will even give the desktop client a facelift, transforming its design into something that resembles the mobile app version. Microsoft is in the process of rolling out the feature, easing it into iOS and Android first. Soon enough, call recording will also become available on Windows 10 desktops.

How to Record Skype Calls on Windows 10

  1. While your Skype call is ongoing, click More Options. It is the + button.
  2. Choose Start Recording from the selection.
  3. You will be notified that everyone will know that you’ve started recording the conversation.
  4. Once the call is complete, the recording will be available in your chat group. You will be able to access it from there for 30 days. On the other hand, you are free to download and save the recording to your computer within that 30-day period.

Pro Tip: Before the call recording feature becomes available on Skype, make sure you update your drivers first to ensure that you wouldn’t have video or audio issues. You can do this manually, but do note that the process can be time-consuming and tedious. As such, we recommend using Auslogics Driver Updater. You won’t have to go to the manufacturer’s website to look for the latest and compatible drivers. This tool will automatically recognize your system and find the right drivers for it.

So, are you excited to try Skype’s new call recording feature?
